Skuja Braden have received an award at the 13th Gyeonggi Ceramics Biennale (GCB) in South Korea, one of the major international exhibitions dedicated to contemporary ceramic art.
Held in Gyeonggi Province, the Biennale brings together artists from around the world to explore the possibilities of ceramics through contemporary approaches to material, form, and concept. The 2026 international competition attracted more than 1,300 submissions from artists across 77 countries, with 59 works selected as finalists for the exhibition.
Among the award recipients is Laced Vessel, a porcelain work created by Skuja Braden in 2025. The work was selected through the Biennale’s international competition, bringing further recognition to the collaborative practice of Ingūna Skuja from Latvia and Melissa D. Braden from the USA.
Laced Vessel is currently on view at the Gyeonggi Museum of Contemporary Ceramic Art as part of the Biennale and will remain on display until 1 November 2026.
The award adds to a growing series of international recognitions for Skuja Braden, whose practice has been presented extensively around the world, including their representation of Latvia at the 59th Venice Biennale in 2022.
