CLAY / CRAFT / CONCEPT explored the boundaries between sculpture and the beautifully crafted functional object, bringing together a large and eclectic group of artists working with clay. Presented by the Malta Society of Arts, the exhibition investigated different approaches to clay across time, from prehistoric objects to contemporary practice, creating a dialogue between functional, decorative, and sculptural forms.
Drawing on the Malta Society of Arts’ long history of supporting craft and its tradition of clay education, the exhibition connected this heritage with contemporary approaches to ceramics and clay. Through a diverse selection of works, CLAY / CRAFT / CONCEPT invited questions about functionality, craftsmanship, artistic value, and the changing role of clay within contemporary art.
Skuja Braden participated in the exhibition alongside artists from Malta and internationally, contributing to a broader exploration of the possibilities of clay as both a material and a conceptual medium.
The exhibition was curated by Gabriel Zammit and presented as a Malta Society of Arts initiative.
