Souvenirs of the Future explored the relationship between memory and imagination through contemporary works inspired by the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation Kütahya Tiles and Ceramics Collection.
The exhibition considered how familiar objects collected and preserved from the past can shape our understanding of both memory and the future. Objects acquired as souvenirs, carrying the cultural and symbolic associations of particular places and moments, became starting points for reflections on personal journeys, regional memory, and the ways objects preserve fragments of experience.
Rather than approaching the collection through nostalgia, Souvenirs of the Future proposed a future-oriented perspective on the archive. Contemporary artists were commissioned to create new works in response to selected objects from the collection, asking how the future might itself one day be remembered.
Curated by Ulya Soley and organised in memory of Suna Kıraç, the exhibition brought together works by Adriana Varejão, Aslı Çavuşoğlu, Bilal Yılmaz, Burçak Bingöl, Candice Lin, Deniz Eroğlu, Elif Uras, Francesco Simeti, Jorge Otero-Pailos, Livia Marin, Metehan Törer, Neven Allgeier, oddviz, Skuja Braden, Taner Ceylan, Volkan Aslan, Yasemin Özcan, and Zsófia Keresztes.
